On-Call Recovery Support Specialist (posted September 26, 2017)
Turning Point is seeking On-Call Recovery Support Specialists (Peer Counselors) for our innovative Living Room program. The Living Room is a nonclinical alternative to a Hospital Emergency Department for people experiencing acute psychiatric crisis. Recovery Support Specialists must self-identify as current or previous consumers of mental health services, as well as have comfort with self-disclosure in both private and public settings regarding their mental health challenges and recovery.
The Recovery Support Specialist works in the Living Room, providing support and interventions to help manage crises of guests of the Living Room. This position requires some flexibility with one’s work schedule and must be available to work during Living Room hours, currently Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm. **At this time, Friday availability is required for this role.**
Position Requirements:
1. Minimum one year experience offering recovery support to and working with population of people struggling with issues of mental health/substance use preferred but not required.
2. Must self-identify as a past or present consumer of mental health services.
3. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a minimum education attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university, thus qualifying to work an MHP (Mental Health Professional) –a job title as defined by Medicaid.
4. Cannot be current or previous recipient of services at Turning Point
5. Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) Certification a plus
6. Ability to lift up to 10 Lbs.

**This is an on-call position, and does not have guaranteed scheduled hours. A training schedule will be set upon hire, but there is no minimum guaranteed hours on an ongoing basis. At this time, Friday availability is required, as well as one additional day Monday through Thursday that the candidate is able to commit to being available.
