Individualized Benefits Counseling

The Work Incentives Planning and Assistance Program, also called WIPA, enables beneficiaries with disabilities to make informed choices about going back to work. The program supports beneficiaries to make a successful transition to self-sufficiency through the following activities:

  1. in-depth counseling about benefits and the effect of work on their benefits
  2. outreach to beneficiaries of SSI and SSDI, and their families, who are potentially eligible to participate in Federal or State work incentives programs
  3. cooperation with Federal, State, and private agencies and nonprofit organizations that serve SSI and SSDI beneficiaries with disabilities
